| The Melia Merida Introduction: | - Recently inaugurated, The Melia Merida Boutique Hotel is located within two emblematic buildings in the historical centre of the city of Merida in the Spanish region of Extremadura, a city declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1993. The Palacio de los Pacheco was built in 1802 and hosted such illustrious guests as Queen Isabel II and her husband Francisco de Asis in 1879, King Alfonso XIII in 1905, guests that helped to raise the prestige of the magnificent palace, also home to an Arab-style patio built at the beginning of the twentieth century under the orders of the distinguished owner, Carlos Pacheco. The second building, the Palacio de los Mendoza, an ancient Medieval resting place built on the foundations of a Roman construction, has been home to the Hotel Emperatriz since 1960. A sober building combining a Renaissance facade with Gothic interiors and a patio with porticos built in the 14th. Century with tiles from Talavera.
