Located on the banks of the River Sella in the outskirts of Cangas de Onís, the Parador is housed in a historic building-the Monastery of San Pedro de Villanueva. This jewel of the 17th century architecture was declared a national monument in 1907. Cangas de Onis is a very important city in Spanish history considering that the fight with Moors started here in 711. The famous battle site of Covadonga, where the first battle was won, is only 14 kilometers from the Parador. The property is composed of two buildings, the original monastery which houses 3 suites and 8 double rooms and a new building with 53 double rooms. The two buildings are connected by a glass verandah structure. This is where the restaurant is. Every table has a spectacular view on the wonders of Asturian landscape.
