Malgrat de Mar was originally a farming village. All that remains of Malgrat's former existence is an old centre with a church, small square, town hall and daily vegetable market. Long stretch of coarse sand punctuated by small rocky outcrops, between which there are narrow, shelving bays. There are plenty of boutiques in the town, especially for cheap clothing, and some local handiwork and crafts.
